Kelly Clarkson is ENGAGED! The 30-year old Texan singer and inaugural American Idol winner is set to wed beau, Brandon Blackstock, after a 10-month courtship, last night (December 15) announcing the engagement news to her fans through celebrity tool-of-communication-du-jour, Twitter, saying,
“I’M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y’all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)”
She followed her ecstatic engagement announcement by swiftly giving us details of the shiny, multi-studded diamond dazzler, and, enclosing a picture of said sparkler,
“Everyone has been asking about my engagement ring, so here it is 🙂 It’s a yellow canary diamond with diamonds around it and Brandon designed it with Johnathon Arndt! They did an amazing job! I can’t wait to make Brandon’s ring with Johnathon as well!”
Clarkson, who came to prominence during her successful stint on 2002’s American Idol, has since gone on to release 5 studio albums, amassed an armful of Grammy awards, and is currently nominated for another 4 Grammy nods; has largely shaken off her ‘reality TV’ mantle. Her husband-to-be, Brandon Blackstock, is a talent manager, who has been in business (Starstruck Entertainment) with his father since 2006. He counts singer Blake Shelton among his charges. Clarkson is managed by Brandon’s father, Narvel Blackstock, who went from touring with, to managing and marrying country music star, Reba McEntire, making her Brandon’s step-mother, and Kelly’s step mother-in-law to-be. …So, Ms. C’s basically marrying into country music royalty.
Clarkson is said to have been a longtime fan of McEntire’s, going on to duet with her and to tour with her in 2007, and with McEntire seemingly in awe of Clarkson also. Miss Clarkson signed with Starstruck Entertainment in 2007.
Kelly and Brandon first began dating in February 2012, having known each other for several years. Kelly has been quoted as saying, “…There he was, at the Super Bowl and he was single.”
It will be the first marriage for Clarkson. Blackstock has been wed previously.
